Registration Frequently Asked Questions
Q - What is The Consumer Code for Home Buyers?
A - The Consumer Code for Homebuilders (CCHB) is a set of core principles and guidance that are to be adopted by Home Builders. The Consumer Code has been drafted in accordance with the guidance contained in the Office of Fair Trading 'Core Criteria for Consumer Codes' document and is supported by the CML and the house building industry.
The Sponsors of CCHB are the Warranty Bodies (including Premier Guarantee) who register home builders, set standards for the construction of new homes and offer insurance-backed warranties on the homes built by their registered home builders. The Sponsors have made it a condition of registration that they will undertake their best endeavours to encourage all their registered builders to abide by the terms of the Code.
The scheme shall include insurance protection for Home Buyers as described in their Warranty Insurance policies. It will include a process to manage disputes that may arise within the terms of that policy. It will also include a process to manage disputes that may arise under the terms of the Code that are outside of the terms of that policy.
Q - When do I pay my registration fee?
A - Registration fees will be payable with your next Premier Guarantee warranty order, with the following exceptions:
- If you are placing an order on our Social Housing scheme
- If you are placing an order on our Commercial Buildings scheme
- If you have had an Initial Developer Assessment within 12 months of your order
- You have already paid for registration on another development within 12 months
The date of your first paid registration will become your annual renewal date. We will remind you prior to your renewal that your registration is due to expire.
Registration must be paid in full before you can place an order on our schemes.
Q - Do I have to pay a fee before I can get a quote?
A - No. Quotations are entirely free of charge and can be requested if you are not currently registered with Premier Guarantee. Registration fees will be provided on any applicable quotation.
Although quotations are free, you will need to pay any registration fees when accepting a quotation.
Q - Is the fee subject to VAT?
A - No. As the fee is in relation to our insurance services, it is exempt from VAT. Premium payments are of course subject to Insurance Premium Tax (IPT). This will be clearly indicated on any quotations you receive from us.
Q - Do I pay multiple registration fees if we have more than one company registered?
A - If you are registering a branch office - AB Developments (Manchester) Limited for example - we do not require you to pay a separate fee. If however you are registering a Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV - a company set up for a specific development), you will have to pay a separate registration fee, even if another party / parties connected to the SPV are already registered with us.
