The Consumer Code for Home Builders

Introduction

The Consumer Code for Home Builders applies to all house builders who, on or after 1st April 2010, accept reservation fees for any property registered under the insurance protection of Premier Guarantee, NHBC or LABC New Home Warranty. The introduction of the Code will bring new regulation into the industry, helping improve the sales process and the home buying experience for the customer.

Sample Documents and Downloads

Premier Guarantee have produced sample Customer Charters and Reservation Agreements in accordance with the rules set out in the Consumer Code for Home Builders. You can use these documents as a template for your own personal use, inserting your company details where appropriate, or you can check your existing documents against them to ensure they cover all aspects of the Consumer Code regulations.

Training: E-Learning

An e-learning course is now available free for registered builders or for companies who are affiliated to registered builders such as estate agents, solicitors etc. Staff from such affiliated companies will need the name of the registered builder that they are affiliated to when registering for the course.

The course is designed for any customer facing staff that needs to have an understanding of the Consumer Code. After self-registration and approval it takes about 30 minutes to complete and learners can print a certificate at the end if they have passed the test.
